Fly fishing lessons in Taupo or Turangi are an amazing gift, or a fun family adventure or team building activity.
Fly fishing is often described as both an art and a science. It can be both incredibly rewarding and satisfying, and at times make grown men have a tantrum like a toddler.
For most, fly fishing is a lifelong gift that gets you out into beautiful natural locations, creates chances for mindfulness and reflection, and is an excuse for time together with loved ones and old friends.
We frequently get asked to teach individuals or groups to cast a fly. Sometimes its a gift for a husband or wife, other times its a family group where we are teaching kids and parents and seeing who can catch the first trout, and sometimes its a group of colleagues on a conference or team building.
No matter the scenario we can develop a plan that suits your needs. All our guides are experienced fly fishing tutors who coach in a fun, patient and relaxed manner. A typical day involves some theory at the start, then learning the actions, then casting to trout as quickly as possible. No fly fishing guide can guarantee you’ll catch trout every time, and with complete beginners it’s more challenging, but on our local Taupo waters we have a very high success rate of getting novices hooking and landing trout.
Our objective is to give every person in your group an experience they’ll talk about for years to come. With luck they’ll get a nice photo holding a beautiful Taupo trout, and for many it could be the start of a lifelong love of fly fishing that will bring years of enjoyment.
